Day 4

Nothing is more of a hindrance to moving forward in life than fear. Fear prevents us from stepping out in faith, following the call of God or attempting something new we have never tried before.

I remember being an assistant teacher in a training class years ago. The teacher, Mark, was a very accomplished instructor and I respected him greatly. We were beginning a 3 day class and I fully expected that my role would be to give him a brief break every now and then, make coffee, bring in lunch and little more. About 10 am the first morning He asked me to teach for a little while so he could return a phone call. He disappeared for the rest of the day! I was so terrified to stand in front of those people and teach for several hours! I kept looking at the door and hoping Mark would come through it. I finally realized he was not coming back so I pushed back my fear and did my best.

I did not realize it at the time but that was the best thing the teacher could have done for me. It forced me to take a deep breath, focus my mind on the task at hand and go forward. I am so thankful that happened because now teaching is one of my great joys and my calling. But, I assure you - if I had let my fears take charge, I would have walked out of that room that morning and run for the hills!

Don't let fear rule your heart and mind today. Step forward in faith into every task or challenge in front of you and remember this scripture. It has encouraged me many times over the years:

Isa 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you;do not be dismayed, for I am your God.I will strengthen you and help you;I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. NIV

Have a blessed day!
God loves you,

Pastor Andy
